How do you know if it's a bodge? Or is that just a term for ugly? Can someone explain for me please?

"VietBodge" or just "bodge" is a term given to the scooters being imported to the US from Asian countries during the last few years. Majority of the restored Vespas you see on ebay and all over craigslist that are super shiney with multiple paint schemes, not correct, and covered in accessories are usually imported from Asia. They get a bad rap because of the very very poor quality of work that's put into them. They may look nice, but uninformed poeple are paying tons of cash to find out later that it's two scooters welded together and the engine is full pieces of Coke cans. Some have cracked in half at high speeds and engines have blown up, but a very few have turned out to be ok. From a collector's standpoint, they are worth nothing.

I saw this when I was looking at the crap stuff the guy in Paris was writing. Anyway, she says it's a non-bodgie, but it's from ScootRS. Funny. She also said that it has a partial rattle can paint job. I wonder why.....

Hmm, so if I every get a vintage-style scooter, it's probably best that I don't have it painted like that if I ever hope to sell it, huh? :P

don't paint it. period. unless you have severe rust. but if you have severe rust, you probably shouldn't buy it.

That makes me a little sad, as an artist and very visual person, I like things to be well crafted/designed and like my things to be an extension of who I am (at least through color). Granted, that mostly leaves me with a lot of green things. :P

paint if ya like. if you buy then you can do wtf you want with it. we just encourage peeps to keep them as original, if it is original to start with.

i guess i should have included that in my statement. don't get all airbrushy on an original paint job. if it's rattlecaned when you get it, go to town.
